“I just want to paint…”

...that’s how our story started. After spending over 10 years in corporate law, I could count on one hand the number of days I'd actually spent painting. A relentless schedule, a small apartment, and the general momentum of life had quietly pushed it aside.

When I finally decided to do something about it, I went looking for a place to escape to – somewhere I could just paint, without a curriculum, without a fixed program, without having to sign up for someone else's creative vision. I found wellness retreats, yoga retreats, and art retreats – but the art-focused ones all centered around structured workshops or a lead artist's program. I couldn't find a place that simply gave you time, space, and materials, and left the rest up to you.

So I built it instead. I left my job, left Singapore, and found a spot in Tra Que Organic Vegetable Village, just outside Hoi An. Quiet, green, unhurried – it felt right immediately. It took time, and it took the right people. But it came together.

The name? An interlude is a deliberate pause – a break with intention. The name felt right for a place designed around stepping away from routine and giving yourself time to create. Like an interlude in music, it's not empty time. It's the space that gives everything else meaning.
